Asphalt Additives

FluxerA Cold Asphalt Patch Additive

FluxerA is an additive that allows for the smooth storage of bituminous hot mixture in bags or in bulk for the purpose of being used for repairs.

Fields of Application and Use

Asphalt patch mixtures, which are used on roads for repair purposes, are categorized in 4 groups:
Hot mixture, hot-applied asphalt
Cold mixture, cold-applied asphalt (PUBitum Polyurethane/bitumen added asphalt mixture)
Rotmix cold asphalt
Hot mixture, cold-applied asphalt. FluxerA is an additive used for cold application of hot mixture asphalt.
Cold-applied patch mixtures with FluxerA additive are used more commonly than other mixtures.
Advantages of asphalt patch with FluxerA additive towards equivalent products:
High Stability,
Better adhesion,
Water resistance,
Resistance to breakage and removal,
Shear resistance,
Workability,
Longer storage life.
Repair of Holes with Cold Asphalt Patch

Advantages

After production of asphalt, adhesion of aggregate particles coated with bitumen to each other is prevented by using FluxerA during the storage period. Thanks to the special formula of the additive, the asphalt hardens in a short time and excellently when it is poured into the hole on the road.
Asphalt produced by using FluxerA is more resistant to cracks.
Application is possible in cold and humid weather conditions with the asphalt patch produced by using FluxerA additive.
No special equipment is required for patching. Its application is very simple.
The road can be opened for traffic for a short time after the application.
It is insoluble in water.
It is made of a mixture of various oils and ester products.
Application
It is made of materials that do not contain tar and kerosene. It adds excellent workability and plasticity characteristics to cold asphalt mixture. The produced asphalt can be stored in bulks or in airtight bags.
Recommended bitumen penetration is 70/100 dmm.
It is recommended to use the aggregates washed and dried between 0-5 and 5-10 mm. Filler (aggregate powder) should not be used.
Approximately 7-8 kg of FluxerA is sufficient for 1 ton asphalt mixture. Dosage may vary depending upon the desired plasticity of the patch, storage time, bitumen type, amount and aggregate gradation.
It is possible to increase the stocking time by increasing the dosage of FluxerA. However, more additive will increase the storage life of cold asphalt and the curing time on road. Also, excessive use of too much FluxerA will cause the mixture to remain too loose.
Dosage should be adjusted according to the use requirements.
The aggregate temperature in the plant should not exceed 110 °C.
First of all, aggregate is taken into asphalt mixture. Then bitumen is taken and aggregates are covered with bitumen by mixing aggregate and bitumen for some 10 seconds. Then FluxerA is taken and the mixture time in the asphalt design is completed. As FluxerA aggregate is taken after it is coated with bitumen, the aggregate particles covered with bitumen are plastered with FluxerA. In this way, the adhesion of aggregate particles to each other during storage is prevented.
FluxerA should be used by adding it into mixture in the asphalt mixer, not bitumen.
The production is conducted as hot and then the asphalt mixture is left to cool. After the asphalt cools, it can be used for months. Cold asphalt can be stored in a plastic bag or bucket, if desired. It is also possible to store the asphalt mixture in bulk. If it is to be stored in bulk, it is recommended to cover it with a tarpaulin and keep it in a covered area.
Packaging
Keep it away from heat sources and protect it against weather conditions such as rain and snow.
Supplied in 180 kg drums.
